Telecommunications Training Coordinator
Pharr Public Safety Communications
Melanie is the training coordinator and a licensed TCOLE instructor for the Pharr Public Safety Communications. Melanie first started working in 9-1-1 back in 2008 as a Telecommunications Operator for the City of Alamo, a small-town one dispatcher agency. After taking a brief break from being a Telecommunication officer, Melanie returned to dispatch but this time assisting with new hire training. She became one of four supervisors for a center of 28 TCO's.
In 2022, Melanie joined the Texas NENA Board becoming the South Regional Coordinator. She is currently Chair for the Texas Border Coalition. Melanie holds membership on both NENA and APCO and was Texas NENA Training Coordinator of the Year in 2022.
In Melanie’s downtime, she enjoys spending time being a mother to her three children and has her schedule tied up with lots of sports activities.
